Proactive Media Transfer

A seamless media experience for users across their connected home devices.
Proactive media transfer has simplified in-home music transition, minimized user effort, and enhanced visibility of underutilized features.
Using a combination of identity, presence and intention prediction, we were able to present UI to the user that would allow them to instantly transfer their media (typically music) from one of their connected devices to another. They could do this through voice interaction, or though the prioritized action button in the UI.

Proximity-based adaptation enhances user convenience and delight.
Upon room entry, ambient devices like Nest Hub or a docked Pixel Tablet leverage identity and proximity tech to initiate proactive media transfer.
From afar, a media card displays on the ambient/lock screen showing current media from any home-connected device belonging to that user. As users approach, the display prompts a suggested voice action. Within reach, the UI expands to allow touch interaction.

Designing for consistency across diverse devices and systems.
I designed a unified user experience across diverse home-connected devices, such as Android phones, tablets, Nest devices, and smart speakers.
This involved maintaining a consistent interaction paradigm and visual representation within the displayed components or voice commands. Notably, this task posed considerable challenges due to the wide array of products, differing operating systems, and varied timelines involved.
